Scope of works: Multi-utility works, including diversions to facilitate Section 278 works
Sector: Public
Project:Â Multi-million-pound expansion
Connections2energy was delighted to collaborate with a long-standing client to assist in the expansion of a school in West Bridgford. The multi-million-pound expansion at Rushcliffe Spencer Academy will see an additional 560 secondary school places created and provide the local community with a new, improved sports facility.  The expansion included a new teaching block with a sports hall as well as remodelling works to existing buildings, and improvements to the external area such as school access, car parking and grassroots pitch areas. These improvements required new utility connections, including gas, telecoms, and water.
As part of the school’s improvements, a new bus lay-by was constructed, requiring Section 278 permits. Before any Section 278 works can begin, utilities need to be relocated or diverted in compliance with regulations. We work closely with clients to ensure these diversions are completed on time to allow for s278 permits to commence without any disruptions. Managing utility diversions can be complex, involving multiple stakeholders, permits, and careful coordination to prevent delays and budget overruns. Our role is to support developers and contractors in identifying, planning, and managing utility relocations efficiently.
